Question 4AFE uses 91 octane?

Did I read this right? 91 octane required for the 4AFE engine? Been running 87 octane for the entire life of the car. Its a 92 Geo Prizm btw.

Yea, it would be a total waste on a 4AFE. In fact, I run 87 in my smallport 4AGE just fine. I don't run it hard tho, just normal.

Where did you read this information?

The Prizm GSi came with the 4AGE... which yeah in 1990 and up would've been a smallport 4AGE.

So I'm assuming it's not a GSi correct? if it's not then you're fine.

it uses 91 RON which is 87 PON, japan uses RON not PON which is the average of RON and MON ratings.

Because of the 8 to 10 point difference noted above, the octane rating shown in the United States is 4 to 5 points lower than the rating shown elsewhere in the world for the same fuel. See the table in the following section for a comparison.
