what is the best stock replacement shock for the ae92?
whats the best shock overall for our cars? not necessarily loweried just for spirited daily drivers.
please after voting explain your decision so we can all learn from this.
the poll will be open indefinitely so over a long enough span of time we should have acquired a fair amount of data to use as a reference regarding this question. so we may all make better informed decisions.
kyb gr-2
I like them a lot. I have had them in for maybe 6k+ miles. I just did a trip through carbon canyon with 500lbs of broken concrete in the trunk and the struts did really well with severely reduced travel distance.
the best stock replacement is probably the GR-2... because it's pretty much the same as stock, but very nice quality and has a lifetime warranty.
I chose the koni yellow though, because it's a far far better shock and is also adjustable to meet your own needs. it handles both lowering springs and stock springs (not something GR-2s do very well), and it also has a life time warranty. yeah, they're a lot more expensive, but worth it, especially if your car is lowered, because if it is, you're just going to blow the GR-2s anyway and end up having to get konis later on...
the GR-2 lifetime warranty is void if you lower your car a decent amount, koni yellows also have a lifetime warranty though.

sux that there is nothing between 300$ for a set and 800$ for a set. konis are nice but they cost more than the car did.
Yeah... the Koni yellows I just ordered not too long ago costed about the same as my silvertop 20v... both of which costed more than my $600 corolla lol

I have never used the Konis, but they have a very good reputation worldwide.
I have used the GR-2 on every vehicle that I have replaced shocks on except my pickup truck (didn't think I needed to spend the extra money)
I am verry pleased with the GR-2s because they give slightly firmer damping than stock for a very reasonable price.
I might go with Koni yellows later on, only because I autocross, but for the street the GR-2s are great.

I'll let you know how much I life the konis vs. the GR-2s on the auto-x course.
