4af auto trans

where does everyones trans shift? mine is shifting at like 5000.. and very hard i might add. it almost feels like someone messed around with it and somehow got it to shift faster. i allready swapped the fluid out and it's still doing it. not a huge deal, it shifts normal unless i'm wot. and everynow and then i get a huge clunk while putting it in reverse

at WOT mine shifts between 5-6k. if my foot is soft on the gas it shifts around 2-3k.
I dont get any clunking or hard shifts though. mine also just hit 100k miles yesterday so your tranny may just be aging poorly and on its way out.

hmm interesting, the car only has 93,000 miles on it and well taken care off.. maybe i'm missing something, or maybe something got loose. i'll have to take a look at it.

Could be a mount, or maybe an axle for the clunk

Could definitely be mounts causing clunking but the early shift and clunk starting at the sam time worry me. Was there any metal flakes in the fluid or pan when you drained the old fluid??

ok an update, i replaced all motor mounts in the car. the shifts are better, i still get a slight clunk on the first to second shift, (auto trans). its not as bad as it was but it's still there. under normal driving the car is perfectly fine. it only does it when i step on it. it's weird.
