swapping parts from 6th gen to 7th gen

Well today our corolla had it's last run, got us home and puked the diff/transmission in the driveway... I've put quite a few good parts in this car so I'm left either putting a new transmission/diff in this car... Which basically means I need to buy another rolla anyway...

I've found a nice 7th gen with about the same km's and condition, it could be a really nice car with the brakes/engine parts off my 6th gen... Just curious what if anything is interchangeable!!!

Thanks for any information guys
Cheers
seems like solid 6th gen's are getting harder and harder to find.... what to do, what to do!

P.S. just so everyone knows the reason the diff/transmission puked, is because the fluid wasn't changed for 200 000km's which probably wouldn't have hurt it too bad, but it was also run dry I think.... friggin PO's i tell ya
still ran for 50 000km's pretty good for a car I have 900 bucks into

trannys for these cars are real cheap(200-400) and redily avail. Just pick up a nice used tranny and be done with it. Cheaper than buying a new car.

I knew someone was gonna say that, sigh..... It's always an option... I'm just finding some good deals on the 7th gen toyota's.... That way we could have some more creature comforts A/C a half decent radio etc.... I am tight for money though so the tranny swap may end up being the best....

How hard would a 4 speed be to install in place of the 3 speed that's in my 6th gen Ls corolla would you just need the shifter with the OD button? and wiring?

The other thing is it's my GF's car, and I think she already has it in her head she's getting a new car, lol....
