Headlight Bulb Replacements

I am looking to replace the Sylvania Xtravision bulbs I put in to my sedan last year. They don't seem to light the road up well, and I realized tonight that driving home from Charlotte on backroads is insanely dark and the lights don't do me justice. I want to go with something that's legal, won't draw attention from cops, and won't burn out my stock harness. I'm looking into Silver Star Ultra(Sylvania), PIAA(heard they don't last long), Luminics(idk if they're legal, heard different things)Koito(same as luminics). I just want something that will light up the road better. I also want to sand the lamp itself. I'm thinking starting on 400grit and sanding up to 1kgrit and polishing it with mother's plastic polish? And for foglights, what's the best you guys have seen that doesn't break the bank? Harbor Freights?

I use Silverstars, they're nice. How long they last I don't know for sure yet. But I like them :-) If you can do Ultras do it, I heard they're very bright white.

I run Silverstar sealed units in my SR5 and my RX7 (they use the same model :-P ), I like them a lot. I never had any problems with visibility, and they're definitely brighter than my old Sylvania cool blues.

I had PIAAs in my pickup for 8+yrs before one went out. I also have silverstars. Not much to complain about here in the city, it's already well lit.

Silverstars are best. Although, I currently have H4's since I now use 7x5 headlamps. Just note, overtime lightbulbs lose their initial brightness.

Anything illegal in terms of headlights: As long as they're working, white to light bluish (xenon-like colors) color, you should be fine.

You should buy the headlamp restore kits they sell at auto part stores in the headlight or car care section. Harbor frieght has it as well, everything you need in a package.

Foglights, entire assemblies less than $20 at any auto part store AND harbor frieght. A few more dollars, if desired, will make them look and perform the way you want them to. You can check eBay, as well. Just click on my car pic in my sig to go to my cardomain page and look at my fogs for reference, if you like. They're pepboys with yellow H-something bulbs I got from ebay.
