Bad Clutch Hydraulics test Slave vs Master?

Hey guys I have a hydraulic clutch issue in my 89 All-Trac. There is no fluid loss, just loss of pedal pressure, so I know its not an external leak.

This leads to the master cylinder or the slave cylinder but I dont want to buy both if only 1 is bad. Is there a way to test which part has gone bad?

Try bleeding it? Even try flushing the fluid.

I don't believe you can have an internal leak in the slave cylinder. If it has gone bad, it would leak externally. The master cylinder however might be able to leak back into the reservoir or worse yet leak into the passenger compartment. Did you check on the rug near the pedal to see if it is leaking there?

I guess that answers my question... there is zero fluid loss, just pedal pressure problems. so I guess the master cylinder is the bad part.

also i have already bled the system 4 or 5 times so I'm pretty sure the problem lies in a 20 year old seal.
