My speedometer wasn't working, so I decided to change the whole cluster from a DX to a LE. Everything else works except for the speedometer. Any suggestions?
Is the cable pluged into the back of the speedometer head? Is the end connected to the transaxle? When I did my LE cluster swap the cable was the hardest part to get seated because of my fat hands.

Sorry, not to hijack the thread but is the LE cluster swap a direct swap or is there wiring to change? I picked one up and haven't had the chance to install it into my sedan yet.
Oh, try and spin the speedo on the back of the LE cluster by hand to see if the needle works, maybe something in the cluster came off.
FB, what do you mean "it sits in a spot inside the dash that holds it in place"
It has a bracket that holds it in place, aligned with the speedometer so it just plugs in whan you put the gauge cluster in place. I am not sure if the earlier cars have that, but my '92 did.
Speedo cables brake more often than gauges go bad. Pull the cable out of the tranny, and see if is broken.
It should be a two piece cable that disconnect just below the intake manifold.

Modification: Changing something to what you thought it should have been from the start!
mine is an 89 so that's almost as early as it gets, pretty sure the 88 had the same. I was half asleep when I typed that so my descriptive skills were shit. From what I remember the speedo cable doesn't really clamp to the cluster so that bracket is kind of necessary .
