4af to 4age wiring q's

been trying to use the search function, but not really the answer i'm looking for. here's the situation. i am in the process of getting a 90GTS parts car that is currently running, but has some back taxes as well as some other issues. we are hoping to swap the 4age 16V into my bro's 89 wagon. the car is carb'ed so i understand we need to pull the tank, fuelpump, lines. my question is the wiring. i understand that we will need to pull the engine harness and possibly the wiring to the pump. the biggest question is would it be better to figure out the wiring harness and try to make it work? or just pull the body harness from the parts car and use it on the wagon? does anyone know if the engine harness will tie into the stock wagon body harness without modifications? bro's 4af is dying and this deal came along. it's no BT like my car, and that would be a whole different animal, but all the links i see seem to be geared to BT /ST swaps into AE92 that have exsisting EFI.

thanks,JD

No, just use the full harness from the GTS on the Wagon as there will most likely be wires that the wagon harness does not have. You might as well since you have the full parts car.

Well toyota changed the engine and the dash harnesses between 89 and 90 model GTSs so even if you were doing a direct 89 GTS to 90 GTS you'd have to change a lot. I know I did this.
A lot of the body harness was the same; I'd imagine there would be alot that you could keep from the wagon. Only sure way would be for you to compare what you have with each other. My bet would be that you'd be better off changing the engine and dash harnesses and see what else can be left alone after that. You might just find out that a lot of the accessory wiring is the same with different connectors and such. Sorry this is not really an answer to your question.

thanks for the replies. i was thinking that might be the case, didn't know that there may be differences inter bodystyle. my next question would be is the GTS cluster and DX cluster plugs the same? i thought the cluster was a little different between the 2? not 100% sure but with my 7th gen the tach cluster plugged in no problem.

thanks again.

Wiring connectors are different but a lot of the wires are the same so you could probably just move the GTS wires over to a DX etc connector and plug it into the DX cluster , atleast most of it so it works.
