I own a 1988 corolla gts. I just picked up a set of 16x7 wheels with 45mm offset. I had 15x6.5 with 40mm offset on it with no problems. Does anyone know if I will have clearance issues? should I run a 5 mm spacer?
Also I have been unable to locate the oem offset for this car. anyone know this?
I have 15x7 with +36mm offset with 205/50/15's and the front clears no problem but my rears probably have 1mm or under of space between strut and tire. I have a 89 GTS. I might just get some 195/50/15s for the back so I deff have no problems.

I got some H&R 10mm spacers for the back of mine, I think it looks really good. It lines that back tires up with the front tires more and makes them flush with the fenders.

I dont really like the idea of wheel spacers. I think they should be avoided whenever possible. It's just one extra thing between the wheel and hub that could cause vibration and over a period of time cause loosening of your lug nuts and I'm sure not a lot of people check their lug nuts tork on a regular basis.

mine are hub centric, so they don't really go anywhere.. I can take my wheel off and they stay on the hub right where they're supposed to be.

with a 10 mm spacer did you lengthen you studs?
10mm spacers will put you at the same offset I had on my 15s and the rear tires rubbed.
I would get 15mm spacers ( at least, maybe 20mm) in the back, and 10mm or 15mm in the front.
but I've never had 16s on my car so I don't know. you might want to get 195 tires too so you'll have less issues.
My H&R spacers came with lengthened wheel studs. I test fit the 10mm spacers without them and they wouldn't have worked.

This is good, I'm planning on getting 15"x6.5" 40mm.
I tried 17" that came off a older model VW Golf. I'm not sure of the offset, but it fit CLOSE. The right rear rubbed because it had a newer tire. Also, full turns had fender intereference. Above all, those wheels soaked up power. Engine rev to go nowhere...
16x7 with 45mm offset... for sure will rub, sell them as they're no use to you, or yeah get spacers and hope that the wheel doesn't rub AND there's enough stud left for the bolts to grab on to.
OEM GTS wheel offset is 39mm, is stamped right on the wheel itself. (14x6 I believe is the wheel size)
RULE OF THUMB: wheel size, width and offset is usually A. on a sticker on the wheel itself, or B. stamped on the wheel itself. I post this because I know people are going to search this next time.
