I have a 92 corolla DX, almost imposible to find a strut bar under 200 for it... just curious, does anyone know if this would fit? or be made to fit, aka if the bolt pattern is different i could drill the new bolt holes. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Toyot...Q5fAccessories
allright thanks! I'm going to find a 93-97 and take a measurement, the strut mount is definitely the same from 88-97, just wanna make double sure its the same distance.
I'm aware the GT-S strut braces offer more support...but I'm not doing anything crazy with my corolla, so a second rate bar should be fine for my application...not to mention im cheap haha
I may post up some pictures of my corolla later if there is a section to do it, pretty new to the site...
yup just measured a 2002 today, bolts are spaced 4.5" from each other on the center of the bolt. same as mine, and the distance from the middle of the strut to strut is 42.5"...mine is 42", however the bars are adjustable both ways so I will order one from ebay and post my results. Hopefully no modification of the hood or bar will be neccessary

Shit! Wish i was closer to you!. I've heard mixed reviews on strut bars for sure...some people notice a difference some dont. My friend has a corolla and he said he definitely felt it stiffen the car up a bit during hard corners. This is the one I'm getting: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Corol...Q5fAccessories
I made him an offer if he takes it it'll cost me around $25. I'll keep my eye open for the GTS bar and may be able to combine them in the future...
Once you get the strut bar, stand on the middle part of it.
If it flexes or bends under your body weight, then it won't provide much handling benefit at all.
well that would certainly test the strength of the bar! however we are talking about horizontal support not vertical, Since I am ordering a tubular designed bar the strength will be concentrated from side to side, not up and down...so even if it would support my weight it would not be completely relevant...i suppose if you were making your own steel bar out of plumbers piping you could stand on it with no problem...however this would be over kill, and I'd rather not test it on something that is not meant to be stressed in that direction. Especially carbon fiber bars!!
A decent way to test a strut bar is first take a piece of string and secure it to a mounting bolt on each strut mount. Take a measurement towards the one strut in comparison to the firewall....on that same side jack the car up, then take the same measurement and you find out your control figure.
Then attach the bar you wish to test, and do the same measurements using the bar...this is an allright test to see how much it controls the body flex...I'll admit it is not a perfect test...but it does work.

More expensive but it seems a little bit more legit and sturdy.
