This thread got me to go out and clean my K&N today, I shot some pics. Here's my DIY CAI.

I was having trouble with alot of road dirt and water splashing up onto the K&N filter on the outter portion under the bumper, from all the rain we get here. I also noticed that the AFM, filter and CAI was sagging under it own weight and putting stress on the intake plenum clamp.

I ran down to the wrecking yard this morning and picked up a stock 90 Prizm cold airbox that fits up in the void behind the bumper. I gutted it, cut the top off and vented the hole-y heck out of it. Except where the water was splashing up from underneth.

Here it is installed. It looks ridiculous, but it really helps to support the entire CAI from the filter to the plenum. And it stopped the water from getting on the filter too. Since it's hidden behind the plastic wheel well cover it can't be seen anyway.

Very true, but then you wouldn't have the "bling" factor from the shiny intake tube, lol.

it would look more OEM and deter teh copz from giving you a ticket if they bust people for mods in your area.
