Need 88-92 SR5 transmission oil cooler lines :(

Hey all, n00b here (not to Toyotas - I have an 87 MR2 with a 20V ST swap done by me , 86 Corolla 4 door hatchback w/4alc & my new 89 Corolla SR5 w/4afc). Yes, I searched

I am trying to get my new 89 Corolla SR5 up and running as my daily commuter, it sat parked for a few years in someone's driveway (only 99k miles!). The SR5 is running well now after all of my hard work, but I have a bad transmission oil cooler leak in one of the tubes/hard lines going to the bottom of the radiator due to rust. I have the Toyota A240L 4-speed automatic transaxle. The tubes/hard lines have been discontinued by Toyota - I normally order all of my Toyota parts online at 1sttoyotaparts.com. Please let me know if you have any for sale or can get them from a pick'n'pull for me (none here in NJ). They were only $20-$30 new from Toyota This transmission was on the 1985-1992 Toyota Corolla FWD and the transmission oil cooler tubes/hard lines should all be similar if not the same.

Thanks all! I have been lurking around on the forums for a few weeks now, there is a lot of good info here!

you can just bend your own lines from 1/4 inch steel fuel line, toss a bubble flare at the rubber end of things to keep the line on with the clamp and at the other end i'm sure its just a single or double flare, reuse the fittings from the old line.

Call me crazy, but I'd rather use OEM rust-free parts than make my own with tube benders and stuff - the SR5 is not THAT old

Besides, buying the parts & tools to make my own lines would cost more than it's worth - it's probably a $5-$10 part at a pick'n'pull...

good luck finding ones that arent as rusty...and if you're keeping the car trust me you'll need the tools again later on to fix rusted brake and fuel lines.
