Australia AE95 4wd mods

before I start down the long road of modding this car I'd love to hear any success/disaster stories. My philosophy is simple, value-for-money, realistic mods without changing the car too much.

my plans atm are;
brake upgrade (bigger front, disc on rear)
springs & shocks (obviously)
engine upgrade (7A-FE, ports opened a bit, SC14 blower, megasquirt ECU)
headers & exhaust (obviously)

It's real hard to find good info about these cars and what works, what doesn't.
if anyone thinks a ae95 can beat a STI or EVO, they probably have too much time and money. I bought this one because I can't afford a Liberty.

Some people out there are questioning if the drivetrain is up to handling more power, but from my experience the clutch will be the first thing to go, thus protecting the drivetrain.

You have to watch out though.

The gearbox is very specialist so an engine upgrade might not work.
What engine does it have in it already?

I'm guessing it has a stock 4AFE? I've also read that it's not a good idea to upgrade the engine in an All-Trac wagon. I plan on keeping mine stock, and someday rebuilding the engine just a little notch above stock. (Can the head be ported & polished? I'm thinking Honda stuff here, don't know how universal the ideas are across makes.)

Really? I thought the 4AFE was standard for the All-Trac wagons. <-- still learning about Toyotas, all their quirks & differences.

As for modding All-Trac wagons... I think for mine, I want more functionality, like a roof rack, maybe a tow hitch. But I want to drive it around a bit more to make sure these Toyotas are as great as everyone says

Semi-joking about that... I just want to make sure this wagon will last me for the long haul, if I decide to invest any more $$$ into it. I really love my wagon, and hope it will stay with me for a long time!
