Question 92 Corolla AE92 Plastic Radiator

I started to have overheating problems after a long drive or when in heavy traffic. The temp gauge would slowly go up and the overflow would spillover. On normal flat freeway trips everything works fine.
The problem turned out to be a bad radiator with clogged core. The new radiator I installed has a plastic top and bottom. How reliable are these? It's a Ready - Rad radiator from Checkers Auto.

original in both the celica and ae92 had plastic tanks. both replacements had plastic tanks and both were Ready-Rads. No problems at all. We sold them both at my last job (a local chain), and my current job (Advance Auto Parts). Actually I've only seen one come back defective, but it was solely from someone dropping it and breaking off a plastic mounting tab.

yeah the 3 I have dealt with for my ae92 all had plastic top and bottom. Quite normal for OEM rads. Hell alot of newer cars have plastic intake manifolds! PLASTIC EVERYWHERE MAUAHAHAH.

They are fine, but with age apparently can be prone to cracking if you are beating the crap out of the car.
