USA 1990 Intermittent#3 cylinder

My daughters 1990 1.6 L.sedan has developed an intermittent miss on the # 3 cylinder. I have spark, replaced the plugs anyway.I had no change in operation when I pulled the #3 injector wire with it running. I swapped the wire from #4 to#3 and #3 to #4 with no change at #3.Still dead. #4 ran as normal this was very obvious.Bad injector right?WRONG!! Replaced it to no avail.So...I even moved the new injector for giggles to #2. Same result,as I said I can move the plugs around with no change. The damnable odd thing is it will smooth out and be fine for a few minutes every once in a while and you can hear the pitch change in the engine operation.I think its a burnt valve, . I havent run a compression test or the old paper at the tailpipe trick as I ran out of daylight today. Im at my wits end,but am open for opinions. Thanks in advance guys!!

AE92

I say try the compression tests. Factory spec compressions are minimum 142psi to maximum 191 psi, up to 14psi difference between cylinders.
