how does one remove the bottom of the back seat on a 91 corolla. i have pulled to the point that i was afraid of tearing the cloth. any help would be appreciated.

There are two black release levers along the bottom (between cushion and floor) on the sedan. Move them while pushing back on cushion and then up to release it.

which way do i push on the black tabs up or down while pushing back?

I just went outside to verify . Kneel on cushion with one knee and grasp lever with both hands and pull straight out. Should feel it release. Do on both sides and lift cushion up.
