Even before I replaced the cluster in my 90 DX with the LE cluster, none of the dash lights worked...ashtray, HVAC, cluster, yet all indicator lights work (aka Idiot Lights) and directionals, high beams, seatbelt and Brake lights...Still, the ligths do not work after replacing the cluster (I didnt replace the cluster to fix the problem though). After using my brain a little, I decided to get the old cluster out and test it. When I picked the LE cluster, whoever pulled it just cut the harness, so i had 3 extra clips, sans wires. I took 2 small pieces of wire and hooked them up to what I gathered was the positive and negative side of the gauge light circuit. when I hooked the wires up to the pos and neg terminals of the car battery, the lights lit up...So this makes me wonder why the lights don't work now? I checked all the fuses, under the dash, and under the hood, and I checked all connections that are somewhat visible. Any ideas as to why I'm experiencing this bullcrap? Could it have something to do with the dimmer switch under the steering wheel?

test the variable light intensity adjuster on the left side of the lights. the dash lights go through that. I had mine unplugged one time and the lights stopped working.
on a similar note, the blinkers won't work if you don't have the hazzards button hooked up

Reason: im a dick lol
The dash (gauge) light fuse is under the left side kick panel (by the driver's left foot)
It should be either that or the dash light dimmer knob (intensity adjuster).

what should be the amps of the fuse? because it looks like the fuses are all jumbled, and there is no sticker on the kick panel door telling me what fuses go where...the sticker was peeled off, not by me lol
Also, I agree with Donald on checking the Dimmer Knob. I had a problem where all the dash lights didn't come on. So I wasted time checking the fuse and wires. Then one day I accidently bumped my head on the dimmer switch and I was like SON OF A BITCH!
ok...worse comes to worse, if the dimmer is done for, can i get a replacement from, say, AZ?
Quite possibly. If not I am sure you will find at least 5 in your local salvage yard.
