Dealer Installed Cruise Control

I'm looking for someone who's familiar with the Toyota dealer-installed cruise control system in my '91 Corolla (5-spd). (It's a Toyota product but not the factory installation.) One of the wires under the dash has come loose. It's a brown wire and (according to the schematic) goes from the actuator (under the hood) to the ECU (somewhere under the dash). Apparently, the location of the ECU can vary (depending on where the tech decided to stick it).

I'm trying to find where this wire should go so I can reconnect it. I know it was dangling near on the driver's side, under the dash, near the outer kick plate. So, I figure the ECU is in that general area but I don't know what it looks like. Can anyone describe what I'm looking for?

The ECU for the engine, or for the cruise control?

It's a metal box with a bunch of wires going into and out of it.

I'm looking for the ECU for the cruise control. On the factory-install, it's behind the passenger side kick plate, but it's not there on my car. I understand it could have been put pretty much anywhere with the dealer installation. Given the location and length of the wire, I'm thinking it has to be on the driver's side somewhere under the dash and outboard of the steering wheel.

The trouble is, I don't know what it looks like so I don't know what I'm looking for. If I knew the size, compostion (is in housed in a metal or plastic box), perhaps the color, whether it's got a pigtail or built-in connector, etc - any info could be helpful at this point. (Boy, if someone only had a pic they could send me, I'd be thrilled!)

1991corolla4afe, are you describing the cruise control ECU or the engine ECU? (I found the engine ECU behind the consiole, in the center of the floorboard, near the firewall - a flat metal box with a bunch of wires connected to it.)

that's weird, I don't know why they would put it somewhere else. My car is pre-wired for the cruise control from the factory and has the plug and everything near the passenger's feet (on the door side)

I can upload a picture of the wiring plug too if you think that would help... but I don't have a cruise control computer.

are you sure it doesn't go to the actual ECU? (not the cruise control computer) that's in the center console underneath the stereo and vent controls and stuch

I was talking about the cruise control ecu. Thought it was metal but it's only got a metal bracket on it. Here's a picture. If the dealer used factory wiring colors ou should be able to follow the light blue or the red wire from the switch on the dash to the computer wherever they put it.
