91 corolla le just put alt in and now battery keeps dying after 30 min cant figure it

ok my brother did the work he put in a alternator in the 91 corolla le and now the car dies after a half a hour of running it has a new battery he just got before the alternator and he said he didnt for get any wires and that there was only 2 connections on the alternator and he connected them i figure on here someone will know what the hell he did wrong cuz we are selling the car and it only has 160,000 miles and runs awesome but now iut doesnt work right someone please help us i figure it might be the battery got drained and is messed up buut it should run without a battery

did he tighten the belt enough?

yes the belt is tight i checked it out uunless he missed a wire there is only 2 connections on the alt that are connected

Yea, one is held on by a single nut (that's the single large wire) and the other is a plug in. Make sure they're both snug and tight.

If ok, check the 7.5 amp fuse for CHARGE.

If ok, you may be looking at a faulty alternator. But then, check the alternator before anything. You can do it street style by starting the car and disconnecting the positive cable off the battery. The engine should still run, if not the alternator is either not doing it's job or there's a bad connection at the alternator. Pluck it back out and take it to a auto part store, AutoZone can bench check them.

yeah we just took the battery out and brought it to advanced auto and they said the battery was good so i unpluged the plug connection and cleaned it up with a wire brush so we are gonna try it again see what happens

yup it was a bum alternator from advanced auto parts so now its back to being the most reliable car out there again
