Im in need of replacing 1 of my coils on my 88 sr-5 corolla and I want to just replace all of them with lowering springs and new struts. Which brand is the best to go with on a TIGHT budget.... Bring my baby back from the grave is a costly endevor but so very worth it

how tight?

KYB GR-2 struts are a little bit stiffer than stock, cost about $60 each and have a life time warrenty (as long as you don't lower the car too much)
Eibach lowering springs don't lower the car too much (a good match for the GR-2s) and cost about $200.

I would also replace your bump stops and top mounts.

I recommend tirerack.com it's a great site to get tires, brakes, and suspension stuff.

just replaced the rear shocks on my sr-5 with gr-2's and and even hough the fronts are still completely shot there is almost no body roll. got them from partstrain.com for a few bucks cheaper than I could find anywhere else, got the 2 for 116$ shipped. and as for springs eibach is good dont think there are alot of other quality options.

yeah tirerack.com was were I was looking at for the stuff, I dont want to lowere it more then 2 inches max but 1 is my perfered drop. and its a very tight budget (3 kids tight) I was thinking of going whiteline everything and KYB struts but I cant find a price for Whiteline parts so Eibach is looking more like the coils im getting. can I keep the stock stuts on with the Eibach springs uptill I can get the cash for the new struts, my fronts are newish with only 4k miles on them and rears ahave about 7-9k on them and I need the coils for inspection

If you just need to pass inspection cheap, go to a junk yard and grab a cheap replacement for whichever coil is bad. This way your not taking all the struts off to put new springs on and than having to pull all the struts again to replace the now blown struts.(to answer the question if you buy lowering springs and put them on the struts you have now thier life will be seriously shortened If they don't blow the first week). Couldn't imagine 1 coil being more than 30$ at a junk yard or eBay.

he has pretty new struts. They'd probably last as long lowered as new GR-2s would... GR-2s aren't any better for lowering a car than OEM struts.

and with eibachs on there they'll probably last about as long as stock struts would. what blows struts on lowered cars is the constant bottoming out.
