Venting problem

Hello. I haven't had a problem or posted anything in some time...my toyota has done me good so far. However, I just noticed something today that I hope isn't too serious. First let me say I have a '90 Toyota Corolla, automatic. I noticed when i was riding that it started getting hot in the car. So i put my hand up by the windshield and noticed that hot air was blowing from there - and it was turned to the off position. So i tried different settings on the heater, to blow from the floor, front vents and defrost, and still it was blowin out hot air...still on off. I turned the thermostat to the cool setting and the air blowin out turned cool. And i noticed that when i came to a stop, that it wasn't as prominent blowing out...only when i'm accelerating. Any thoughts would be appreciated... Does this sound like a serious problem?? thanks in advance!

Set the climate control to "Recirculate" instead of the setting to bring in fresh air from outside. That should take care of it. Most cars operate that way,

And if that doesn't work, your vent seals are probably desintgrated. Al the flaps and such in the vent system have some sort of foam seal on them and the just turn to dust after several years.
So air might get through, even when the flap is in the closed position

Yea, what Ghosty said. Put the tab to RECIRCULATE, it'll close the vent that brings in outside air. And depending on how bad or good the dinghy foam seals are, some air may come through. I currently have this problem as well, I just don't look at as a problem. Whenever I want low heat, I'll just switch it to recirculate whenever I'm driving.
