disk or tires?

So I went out of town and my corolla has a vibrating issue. It is fine when your going straight along with the gas down but when you let it coast, you can feel the wheel shaking. When you brake you can hear the vibrating even more and it pulls to the left. Not violently pulling but enough to throw you off. Im assuming it to be possibly a bent disk on the driver side front brakes. What else should I check for when I go to take the driver side apart? I don't think balancing would be an issue would it? Its also easy to feel at low speeds like in parking lots. The faster you go, the less it seems to pull. I thought prehaps a tire...or rim...was bent. I have had a tire that actually had a lump in it once and it was on the front and made the wheel go from side to side basically. Right now the wheel seems to pull just to the left not side to side. Its like a bunch of little tugs and it pulls the wheel to the left a few degrees or so. Could I have damaged suspension by any chance on that side? The tires are also good. (Or atleast should be. They are only 2 years old.)

Well... usually balance issues you only feel at like freeway speeds, unless really off balance. The best thing you could do is put the car on a lift, and check wheel bearings for any play, check brakes to make sure everything is tight, make sure nothing looks damaged underneath like sway bar end links, or something. And also check your tire pressure to make sure all tires are equal (about 30-35psi). There's a lot of things you could check. It might just be something stupid lol.

Of course the best way is to bring it to a shop, but most places will charge you just to even look at it. Sometimes if you bring it to the dealership, if they're nice they'll just raise it up and check it out for free, as long as they're not actually doing work. I work at a Ford dealership and we do it all the time. Just ask around I guess. :-) Hope that helps...

Check the bushings inside the boots on calipers to make sure they aren't frozen in place. If they freeze in place you can get the pull and vibration. Also check the balance on front tires. A wheel balancing weight could have fallen off.

If the weight fell off wouldn't that affect the car at high speeds? This is mostly on slower speeds and braking. At high speeds it drifts slightly but not a terrible amount.

Yeah that's true what he said, maybe the "slide pins" in your caliper are stuck, or just not greased up enough any more. Usually you can pull the caliper off (two bolts) leave the brake line connected, its fine... and pop the two long slide pins out and grease them up. Also try to spray away any brake dust. Go to your autoparts store and pickup a can of any brand brake clean, great shit. But use the brake clean before you grease the slide pins so you dont wash the grease away haha.

Worst thing that could happen in this situation is you just might have a seized caliper and need to replace it completely, but hopefully not the situation! :-) Good luck.

Would a bad or damaged cv joint cause vibration in the steering wheel?
