Gas Tank Size

I have a 89 Corolla GTS, 4AGE 1.6L DOHC. Wondering if anybody can tell me how many gallons my gas tank is supposed to hold. Everytime I fill up it's hard to tell. I'm guessing 11-12 gallons at full?

Recall that was roughly 50 liters. Your estimate sounds right

Mine was starting to sputter and shut itself off when I got down to less than one gallon.

Took quite a bit of cranking to restart too.

If you're brave enough you won't get stranded then keep driving it, but it puts a lot of stress on your fuel pump.

I already ran out of fuel twice (don't ask )

But I can't get any more than about 48 litres in the tank

The last sips, are unusable. The pump pickup does not suck the bottom of the barrel.
Sediment Sucks.

So are the gas tanks the same size in the US? 50 litres = 13.2 gallons like you said. Just want to make sure thats right. I wanna see how my gas mileage is. What's the best way to figure out my gas mileage as well?

Just look at how much you put in the tank. Note how much miles/km's you drive until the next time you fill it up. Look at the diffenrence and the distance you drove on it and presto! That's your milage

That way you don't need to know how big your tank is or drive until it's empty.
