replaced engine mount broke again

hi,
i replaced the front (near radiator, driver side) of my 1989 corolla but it broke again a day after.
maybe i have to replace another one with this one at the same time?
if so, could you please tell me the exact part name and place?

thank you very much in advance.

Michael

I can find three mounts: the broken front one, and two others are OK (driver side middle one next to transmission and rear one passenger side)
Is there one more?

Thanks for asking.

There are 5 mounts total.

If you look from the front of the car down onto the engine from the top there is:
-one in the right connected to the transmission
-one on the left connected to the engine (near the timing belt)
-one on the front center near the radiator
-one in the rear center near the steering rack and fire wall
-one in the middle of the engine/transmission on the bottom connected to the sub frame from the transmission bell housing

I would say it's probably your rear mount which can be a pain to change. the middle one doesn't really do much, when I swapped my engine I didn't use one.

Eagle, Thanks for the detailed info.

Can I see and check this one from above, not from the bottom?

it'll be pretty hard to check from above, but it's probably possible. it's basically in the same spot as the front mount, but on the opposite side of the bell housing.

^What he said^

Most of the engine movement is countered by the front and rear engine mounts (The engine mostly rocks from front to back.) When both are worn out and you only replace one. It's going to have a hard time to control the engine on it's own.
A day still is very short, but still. It's broken so it seems that it's possible.

So i'd check both the front and rear ones and if worn. Replace them both

Thanks Blof-fan and everyone,
I checked the rear one and it is also broken. Have to replace both this time.

Now all I need is to find the person who can do this for $100.

Michael
