90 corolla sedan idle, mpg, and rich smell problem

ok i my car benn actin up and i dont know where to start, first it idle very high in first start no matter what weather temp is outside if its start around 2k rpm wtf kinda high, then when its warm up its good though. i also notice a real rich smell in gas almost seems i can light it up or something and on top of all of that is take 2 crank to start up or a 15 sec crank to start it up when its cool. need help my mpg drop to half, now a full take only last barely a week not 2 weeks nomore.
pleez help guys, its crazy that this car eats more gas then my 05 passat turbo!!

first change your thermostat and go from there, if the thermostat is stuck open the fuel system will keep the rpms running high in order to warm up the car, hence the reason why it starts at 2k and stays there. You could also try to change the fuel filter in case it's clogged, as well as the o2 sensor and maybe even the cat could cause the car to run rich.

4dRcOrOlLA, in an earlier post you said you installed 4A-GE injectors into your 4A-FE engine. Mods that wild can be expected to have wild side effects.

Holy shit I'm going to try that lol. My car has ALWAYS when cold, started up and idled all the way to 2000-2500 rpms and slowly goes down as it starts warming up. People always said it was just normal for these engines...

as far as i know it IS normal for the engine to idle up to about 2500rpm when you first start it. as long as it doesnt stay there after it warms up its fine.
