Strange Starting Condition...Need Help with Diagnosis

Hello and thank you for reading my post. I am trying to help a friend with her 1992 Toyota Corolla DX. It is a 5spd manual with around 180k on it. The car has an intermittent hot start problem. The car will start when cold, but periodically when hot the car will not start. The starter motor will not even engage and the solenoids will not even click. What I do get are the dash lights, and strangely the AC fan under the hood. The fan switch in the car is set to off so i'm not running the defrost. Normally I would think starter contacts but she just paid a shop $145 to replace the contacts. The battery is less than 2 years old. She ran it dead once and now the car has been sitting so I've got it on a charger out of the car overnight tonight. The alternator has also been replaced within the last 5,000 miles. There are no blown fuses and when the car does start, it starts and runs fine. Any ideas? Bad connection to the starter or maybe the ignition switch? When I push the clutch in while trying to start I do hear the neutral safety switch working. She really needs help with this thing so I really appreciate anyone's time.

I currently have this problem, too. I just replaced my starter myself and I'm sure it's not a faulty starter but IS the starter. I have a small coolant leak that drips onto the starter that could be drying up and getting it caught a bit...

However, take a long wrench or something long and tap the starter a couple times. It'll work.

Or you can just replace the starter...

Starter for sure... my old GTS used to do that for years, eventually the starter went.
