Gen6 FX16-GTS Wiper Switch Questions

I am new to this forum and wanted to ask a question about the washer switch on my '88 FX16 GTS. It is not working, the motor is fine. Hate to spend a bundle on a new switch. Does anyone have experience taking apart the switch and cleaning the contacts? I am having trouble figuring out how it comes apart.

Any help you can offer is appreciated.

Well, I didn't get any further than this:

Didn't try to disassemble the rest, just because I was afraid I might brake it and I was still going to need it

Can't find a replacement at the junkyards?

I was hoping to look at the push button mechanism, since the rest still works. I am thinking that the contacts on the mechanism may be dirty. Any ideas on how the button comes off?

Nope. Mine still worked, so there was no need for me to disassemble that and potentially brake it. But I guess it is just 'clicked' in place. Try pulling it gently

I have a similar problem in my 88 All-Trac wagon. Besides the reservoir leaking, I know the motor works because the rear wiper button will produce water on the liftgate window (well, it will before the reservoir drains itself, lol). But the washer fluid button for the windshield does nothing. It does seem to draw some amperage from the battery though, as I observed my dash lights dim slightly when pushing the button and holding it while parked in the driveway with the car running.

I also installed a lights-on reminder, and when I have my headlights switched on, pushing the washer fluid button will yield a chirp from the lights-on reminder buzzer I instaleld!

Anyways, I'm getting the Toyota repair manual & electrical wiring diagram books for my wagon sometime this week. Maybe the solution for my problem will be similar to what you need to do for your FX.
