Has anyone converted their 4a-f carbureted engines to fuel injection? I just like to know how involved it is. I might buy a 89 corolla and convert it to FI if it just swapping intake manifolds and such. Any info greatly appreciated

It is pretty drastic. You are going to need a fuelpump and other intake manifold. But you are also going to need an ECU to control the EFI and all the wiring that goes with it. And than I'm still forgetting a lot of parts.
I think you're better off buying a car with a 4A-FE engine already installed now you still have the choise.
Or leave the carbs and put some dubble weber or solex carbs on it. There should still be some room for improvement on the engine, even with the carbs

I sawpped a FI engine into a carb Tercel, and it was quite a job. I would not recommend it.
What you will need to make it work right is:
Fuel tank with internal pump and baffle compartment.
All the wireing in the engine compartment, ECU, fuse and relay boxes, and associated sensors.
Intake manifold and injectors (I'm not sure, but you might need the cylinder head also)
The biggest question mark hangs over how much of this new wiring will connect directly to the rest of the wiring of your car.
If you can go to a salvage yard and get a complete engine, all the wiring, ECU etc, and the fuel tank from a FI car, it will not be that hard. Otherwise, I don't recommend it.

I don't really recommend it, when I swapped my 4AGE into my SR5 it sucked
I would try to just buy a fuel injected corolla and save yourself the headache. you can probably get one for cheaper than a carbed one + all the stuff you need to convert it.

im currently doing a carb to fuel injected swap and itis a nightmare. i had to buy an entire parts car cuz finding the stuff in the slavage yard was sometimes damn near impossible. dont recommend especially if your going to do all that just to make you 4af into 4afe. if you do end up doing it at least go 4age
There are enough fuel injected models reasonably priced to purchase. As already mentioned this would be tough and it would be cheaper to buy an FI model anyway.
