Post ae91 4wd to rwd comversion?

So i was wondering, there is this 4wd ae91 rolla that i was thinking of buying, but i wanted to know how hard it is to convert this to rwd. I was told that the easy way was to just cut the front axles or dissable sumthing at the front(cant remember but sounds bogus). I know there is another way, much harder and time consuming and i want to know what it is, i also think it has something to do with mounting the engine differently. So guy can u just let me know the steps that should be taken and what should be cut/welded etc.?

This is a project i would really want to start and just nedd a little advice from th9ose with more knowledge. No i do not want to get an 86 corolla.

With a 4WD, just take out the front two axles I guess. But whatever you do will be bad for the powertrain as they were meant to be for 4WD... Rookie said... Stay FWD, get used to 4WD, or buy an AE86.

This again?

What are you thinking of gaining by "converting" to RWD? It's already been discussed here that it was a bad idea.

ren, stop the agony and ban him!

anyway, what you dont know is that most 4wd that are converted to RWD are often converted because of regulations for a race series, not because thats cool (and no, its not cool since you would be lowering the overall ability of the car)

If you want to convert 4WD to RWD, it's just our opinion it's a bad idea if you're using the car for daily driving. Just know that by converting it, even if it's just removing certain parts, any parts, it'll perform differently and may cause more headache.

I say if you're willing to put in the time and money, I guess you can cut the center console portion of the chassis out and weld in a new piece so a RWD trans can fit, redo the rear to fit the rear diffs somehow, and get custom made mounts to turn the engine from transverse to longitudinal... just a thought. All your donor parts can come from an AE86, or whatever... that's one hell of a project I definately wouldn't mind doing, however I need to win the lottery first.

i once seen someone with a 91 corolla sedan, that was 4wd, they took off the front axles and the car wasnt moving. so idk about taking out the axles. the tranny in front wheel drive base motors power ratio i think is like 80% front and 20% rear, might be more for front. but it was funny watchin them put the axles back on.

I was gonna ask the same question but I figured if it was worth doing, someone on here would've already gone done it.
