Correct adhesive

Hi all,

I have to replace the trunk seal on my 90 Sedan. My FSM does not talk about weatherstrip or adhesives. I have some 3M weatherstrip adhesive. Wil this work or do I need something special? Thanks.

Should be fine, the weather stripe is a crimp over lip design so if the new weather stripe is good quality then it shouldn't leak unlike many old cars that had weather strip that installed in a gutter which had a tendency to leak without some type of sealer.

that should work fine.

you just want something that will stick to both the seal and metal that will remain flexible

I've used two types of 3M weatherstrip adhesive before. One is yellowish and a PITA to work with, the other is black and works good.

Yeh, I have the yellow. It is hard to work with. It is all stringy & gets everywhere. Any idea what the black stuff is called or part number?

If you can manage it, I'm sure the yellow will work fine. Not to say the black isn't messy too, it just seems its less messy...
