I can't find anybody to encourage my bad decision.
I'm no tin the market for a new car, I don't need one. My fiance's Ford is fine for the time being, and I've got my '88 Pickup (with a sweet little camper). But I ran across this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1991-...item1e59fe1ed9
And at the risk of someone outbidding me.. should I do it? I had a sedan with almost 300k, and it was amazing! BTW, it was 450$ when I was viewing it. I would just store it until I needed a new car. I called the guy and he said the buy-it-now was $1950, and I can't do that for a car I don't need. How high should I go?
Er, EDIT: tack on 200 to pick it up...

Have you ever had an oil leak so bad it comes into the sunroof? 2 qt. per 15 mi. !

Why not? On the pictures it looks good, no rust on the typical spots so I guess it was looked after by the previous owner.
Just ask yourself what you really want to do with it. Do you just want a Corolla again and are you really going to use it or just store it for years and years?

As long as it has been well maintained, hasn't been in any major collisions and it drives well, I say go for it.
When I buy a car I make sure it's been properly maintained and driven by a driver that doesn't drive as crazy as others.
I pay more attention to maintenance other than mileage. Why you ask? My family has a 96 Maxima with 480K mi. (yes half a million minus 20k) on it with the ORIGINAL out of the factory engine and it still runs like a beauty thanks to all the maintenance.
Judging by the pictures I say go for it, as long as you take it for a test drive.
Take for a test drive, definately. If you're not a mechanic, get one to look at the car with you. There are a lot of problems that can be intentionally hidden but will surface later.
Still, the seller make almost next to no money on the deal after you factor in the outrageous final value fee's and handling charges that ebay makes the seller pay after the auction ends.
