4AF help

I own a 1988 Corolla Wagon 4AF. I need some help with terminology and the carb. First, is this an AE92 or AE94. It's manual and FWD. What the hell is the difference between those chassis codes?

Now, on to the carb. Car stalls occasionally while driving. It normally does it after a hot re-start. Sometimes it runs perfectly, other times I have to keep the throttle down in order to keep it running. Also, it struggles to turn off, and struggles to start sometimes. I'm assuming it's not getting fuel sometimes which seems like a carb issue. It only has 134k mi on it. New plugs, wires, dizzy cap, dizzy rotor, fuel filter, and pcv valve.

Any help is appreciated. Thx

Check all the vac lines for leaks. The carb has a clear sight glass on the side to verify gas level in carb. It should be in the center of the sight glass. If not check float . Could also be that the fuel pump is weak and needs replaced.

Thanks for the reply, bro. How do I check for vacuum leaks? I'm checking the fuel pump, I'll let you know if it has pressure.

1st just check for hardend/brittle lines.

You can also try to spray some carb cleaner, and you'll be able to head the idle change a little when you hit a leak.

As for the chassis codes: the only ones you really have to be concerned with are ae92 and ae95. Those are the most used, generally accepted terms (ae92=fwd models, ae95=awd (alltrac) model). I've heard ae91 used for sedans/sr5s, 92 for the GTS, 94 for wagon, 95 for alltrac but nobody really uses those terms.

If it struggles to turn off, I would suggest checking the timing, maybe a complete tune up.

If that is good, use only TopTierGas.
I suggest TopTier Gas as much as possible anyway, I have experienced a difference.
