C52 only for GTS coupes. C52's have a lower first gear ratio, a bit more torqy feeling.
Not neccesarily...My '92 Corolla Hatchback with 4A-FE engine had a C52 aswell. As do most Corolla's down here for that matter.
Don't know if there is a difference between US en Europe in that, but here, the C52 manual 5-speed had two variants: The ones fitted to the 4A-F(E) engines and the ones fitted to the 4A-GE's. Only difference was that the 4A-GE C52 had a different final gear (I believe it was 4,058 for the 'normal' C52 and 4.312 for the 4A-GE C52)
From the outside, you can't see which is which. Only way to indentify them is by the engine it was mated to.
Difference between C50 en C52 that can indentify them is that the C50 has only 1 'hump' for the starter on the bell-housing
The C52 has 2 'humps' for the starter on the bell-housing so that the starter could be mounted on either side of the engine

yeah, this seems to be a rampant piece of mis-information. from my research it seems all AE92s actually have C52s. Only AE82s had C50s.
one way to see what the final drive is is to put and axle or something in the transmission and rotate it, and count how many rotations the input shaft does or vice versa.
If you account for the ratio of the gear you're in, what you'll come up with is the final drive... but this is a pain

Can anyone tell me the gear ratio for my transmission and the one off the black top, the c160? My transmission currently has no 3rd gear cause the synchro quit. I'd like to get another transmission and the thought of the c160 or prehaps another transmission with a bit more torque.
Have you even looked into what it takes to put a 6spd into an AE92?? Maybe you should do a quick search for the threads on this topic, then decide if you're up to that challenge.
Ferris... 4age 16v propulsion? I'm guessing you mean RWD (rear wheel drive) as that's the only 4age that came with the T50.

According to the thread you have to change clutch slave, the mounting bracket you have to put new holes in. Some cutting is involved in order to make the shifter go into reverse. The only part i need to do some reading up on is the clutch fork. the thread was for a c52 and I have a c50, according to SCT. Am I missing anything?
