Front sway bar, no rear

I recently aquired a front GT-S sway bar but no rear, I'm going to install it however i was wondering if there are any major disadvantages of doing this (Oversteer/understeer?) I intend to get the rear as well, however for now i will deal with the front. Oh and this is for a 4-door corolla DX.

Also I was wondering where you guys with GTS spec cars got your front sway bar bushings and the metal supports that secure the sway bar and bushings to the frame? i was unable to find them on Rockauto.

It also appeared that other model end links will fit the corolla's such as certain year Celica's, has anyone found this to be true? I matched the part numbers up with the different cars it applys to thats all...wanted to confirm so i have a wider selection.

If you want to put in a GTS swaybar into an SR5 or Sedan, you'll need the metal brackets that hold the swaybar and rear control arm bushing, from a GTS. You'll have to find them in the salvage yard.

Installing a front swaybar without a rear bar, on a fwd car, WILL increase understeer. Whether the handling will be truly objectionable like this depends on the overall balance of the suspension, before the addition of the bar(s). This you will likely have to find out for yourself. For a fwd street car that will not be regularly driven at or near the limit, I have usually preferred a rear bar, without a front one (as long as the suspension is well sorted). That is the set up I have on my AE92 now, in fact (rear GTS bar, no front). I prefer turn-in and handling as neutral as possible, even biased in the direction of a bit of oversteer, which I get with this arrangement. I would not use this sort of set up on a competition car, or even if the car was to be driven at the limit. But, for streetable handling up to say, 80 % of the limit, this works for me.

you'll need GT-S lower control arms so the end links have something to bolt to.

it should handle fine. for competition use, I would get an aftermarket rear bar to balance it out, but it's all personal preference.

ok thanks for the input guys, eage8, i noticed in another post you mentioned you also need a GT-S subframe....is this true??? because that suddenly makes it more hassel and money then its worth to me haha... I also intend to weld tabs on to the control arms to accept the end links....

SuperRA, REAR control arm bushings?? I'm working on the front suspension..i dont understand what you mean? perhaps its worded strangely for me? haha

Looks like for the sway bar, brackets, bushings, and end links itll run me around 170 total...

Yes, I just realized it was worded strange. What I meant was that the bracket holds on the REAR bushing of the FRONT control arm.

You should not need the subframe as they are the same on GTS or not.

yeah, I think all you need is those lower control arm rear brackets. it should work without replacing the whole subframe.
