Valve cover stud broken

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I was changing out my valve cover seal and was removing one of the nuts that hold down the valve cover but it kept turning. I grabbed it and pulled it and it came up with the stud. After removing the valve cover i found that the sud had broken off inside of the mounting block . Anyone had this issue or can lend some advise? Thanks.

You'll have to either drill a hole down the center of the stud and use an extractor to remove the broken stud.
If that doesn't work, you'll have to drill out the stud completely and re tap a new, larger thread and use the appropriate new stud or bolt.

Do you know how weld? if so you can weld a something to grab it...

4af/fe or a 4age?

if it's a 4age just remove the valve cover... then remove the rest of the bolt holding the cap down and replace it (if it broke below the nut that holds the cam cap... then remove the other cam cap bolt, remove cam cap, use vicegrips to remove the remaining broken bolt, and replace).

Hmmm,...extracting it maybe a possibility but i dont have the tools. Welding is is probably not a good idea for me anyways (dont have a welder and dont know how lol). I think toyotaspeed has the right idea. It looks like the bolt broke right in the middle of the cam cap which looks easy enough to extract. Does anyone know what the torque spec for the cam cap bolts are? Am i better off going to the dealer to get a new bolt or am i safe to just grab one from junk yard?
