Transmission question

I have a 1990 corolla w/ a bad at tranny, I have been looking for a replacement but mine has the cable odometer and the used tranny's I am finding have the electronic type. Are they interchangeable or do I need to find the excat one?, Thanks...btw what is the model # for these tranny's?

I believe the trannies with the electronic speedometer are electronically controlled. Therefore you cannot easily use them since your car doesn't have a computer to control it. They fit in place but you won't have the proper electrical hookup and they won't work without a computer.

if it's manual, it can be replaced very easily. I'm running a C56 transmission right now (originally electronic that I switched to cable)

if it's auto I'm not sure.

Doh, I thought he said automatic somewhere. Oh well, guess I should read better.

Yes, if it was a manual, all you would have to do is swap the speedo output gear I think.

My earlier post was referring to automatic trans.
