USA Radio works; speakers do not

My friend drives a '91 Corolla. It has a two minor electrical issues. The clock runs ultra fast and the the speakers do not make sound, though the radio turns on.

What do you people think could be wrong? She rear ended someone years ago, and that's around the same time (not THAT same time) the speakers quit. I had a '90 Accord with the same radio symptoms years after a similar impact and I just replaced the radio's wiring harness and everything was fine.

I can't say these two cars are the same, though, and accessing an AE90 sedan's radio's wiring is a few degrees more complicated than it is with a '90s Accord. Are there any other possible causes you all can pinpoint? Thanks in advance!

Speakers blown or the wires needs to be replace due to an open circuit somewhere... Check them both. Wires are not that difficult to access. If that's a problem, simply run new wires

As for the clock, replace it.

If you are dealing with the original radio do your friend a favor and replace it. Here is a link to the wiring to reinstall a replacement. The replacement radio would have a built in clock so you would cover that as well. The diagram is for a 93 yours should be the same.
