Lunging When Car is Warming Up

I have a 1992 Corolla and I have recently replaced the timing belt. About 4 or 5 months ago anyway in the past month as it is warming up it get to the point where it jumps like you stomp and the gas and let off, stomp on the gas and let off and after it is warmed up it is OK. At the same time it is doing this if I come to a stop sign the car will die.

Timing is good I checked that. Where do I go from there?

I'm no super duper mechanic but one thing I might consider is the fuel regulator. My sister has a 89 century that would do the lunging thing foreward and then die at a stop and wouldn't stay running unless you gave it gas. This is just what happened with her car. It may be something different. Just throwing out ideas.

If you get a Check Engine Light, you can pull the codes with a paper clip.

Can you make the problem temporarily go away by releasing or flooring the gas? If so, investigate the throttle position sensor (it can cause this problem and will usually only show up at partial throttle.)

Yes I can push in the clutch and rev the engine and it will go away for a bit or just let off the gas. I was going to tune it up anyway when I get my tax return so I will check all that stuff when I do that and replace one thing at a time.
