Temp. switch for elect. fan?

I was wondering if anyone knew where the thermostat to turn on the radiator fan on a 1991 Toyota Corolla? Also, the relay for the fan. The fan does work, but just doesn't turn on. I got a Haynes manual, but it doesn't make sense to me. Thanks in advance.

on a 4afe I believe it should be on the side of the head, 4age is in the thermostat housing

if the rest of your cooling system works properly then the fan should kick on when the sensor is unplugged.... so you should be able to find it that way

Thanks Toyota speed! It makes sense now, my Haynes manual shows that fan switch on the thermostat housing but its must be for the GE, mines a FE. I will dissect it tomorrow.

The sensor is called the ECT.....*Engine Coolent temp sensor.
That controls the fans..
Follow the upper radiator hose, the thermostat should be close......
