Shifting issue

Hello everyone,

I seem to be having an issue shifting in to 3rd gear. Every other gear is fine and the clutch disengages/engages fine. It seems that i have to push twice (not the clutch, the shifter) to get it into gear. I mean the car runs and all but its just getting annoying, any one have similar experience or suggestions?

most def. the syncro's, I've driven numerous C series transmissions with this problem you can replace them or try some better oil but the damage is already done. try double clutching it going into third gear, if it feels better or goes into third easier than chances are thats your problem.

What the hell is it about third gear anyway. My 92 celica was kinda like that, it would grind if going into third gear too quick sometimes. Was really annoying. And my friends celica did a similar thing. I'm glad the tranny in my Corolla shifts great though. :p

They have poorly designed synhcros that wear out quicker then most other trans designs. It also doesn't help that a lot of guys drive these things hard cause the lack of power so they end up hard and quick shifting with poor clutch use.
