Front End Question

The other day my sister got into an accident in her 92 Corolla. Shes fine but the car suffered some front end damage. My question is how do I remove the radiator support? I checked a few times but it looks like the front end is one whole clip.

Sorry for the quality, but heres a pic of the damage to the passenger side.

It is spot welded in place. Drill out the spot welds and you'll be able to remove it.
The entire front end support is available as a replacement.

Thanks. Thats what I figured. Can I use any drill bit to drill them out? And where are the spot welds located?

Well, I do have a repair manual for collision damage for these Corolla's, but I can't just post a scan here because it's against Forum rules and the mods will just remove that post.

But here is a picture of a replacement part.

There are special drill bits for spot welds. But if you use a drill that's wide enough, it should work just as well. Just make sure you dont drill all the way through.

Just look carefully for the welds, you should be able to see them all.

Thanks for the pic, that clears things up. The main damage is not to the core support then but to which im guessing is the frame rail. Heres a better pic. I circled where the damage is. If this is the frame rail how much am I looking at to get it repaired or should I just totall the car?

That is going to be a problem. Those are the chassis beams and are not easily replaced.
Damage re pair shops can use something called a 'straightener'

They can use one of these to try and bend parts into shape with some brute force.

But if you really want it to be repaired, it is going to cost you I'm afraid.

I need to get the driver side chassis beam straightened out as well. It's pushed upward, my front bumper, on the driver side, is about an inch higher...

If you check eBay for that part, email the seller first. I did when I was looking for a rad support. It was listed for the same year as I had but when I asked, he replied that it wasn't for that body style.... Instead of 88 - 97, it was actually 93 -97 which is different.

yea good thing you contacted them before hand. im sure you woulnd have been happy after taking it all apart and realizing its not the same.

i was thinking to try to fix it how i learned to do it with out a frame machine. get the car between 2 beams with a chain across and crank the chains lol... i did it on a S10 Blazer at BOCES and it worked. a bit dangerous though haha

how much do you think it cost to get it straightened out?
