All things relating to a '89 sr5:manual, stock 4af
My starter is failing at a rapid rate now so I am in the market for a new one.

I heard that there might be a difference between the automatic trans starter and the manual trans starter. Is this true?
Are the starters from the 4afe models the same as those of the 4af models?

Basically, am I looking for a specific starter or are they all the same?

FE starter should fit, dunno about automatics.

FYI for those that may search this later.

4afe and 4af starters are the same.
On the sr5 the starter is on the transmission below the carb. To get to it I pulled the passenger wheel and dust cover off and unplugged everything then pulled the bolts. I pulled the starter out through the bottom with no problem.
