How To Remove Factroy Radio 91' Corolla 4dr

Anyone know how to remove the OEM Radio from a 91' Corolla 4DR?

I know I could just go out start zipping screws out with a bit-driver, but, I wanted to know if anyone knows the correct way to replace the radio with minimal work without removing the entire dash.

I've searched around on the site and was unable to find a thread with any relevant details.

I have the harness wiring down. Just need some info on the best / fastest / easiest way to get the old one out and new one in!

Thanks!

theres a plastic trim piece that covers the center of the dash and it wraps around over the steering wheel, thats secured just by a few pop clips, then you just wiggle that free (make sure to disconnect some electrical connectors before just ripping it away such as the emergency lights switch, the cig. lighter). You'lll then see the radio, and its bolted to two L brakets, use an extension to unbolt the brackets from the dash and take out the radio and brackets together as one piece. Again dont tug too quick as you dont want to rip any of the wires for the radio wiring harness. Then relocated the brackets over to the new radio and reverse everything once you have the wiring harness squared away.

IIRC that should be the correct process, I dont think I missed anything but thats all running off memory from almost two years ago.

There's two screws that screw the center console piece you have to take out, one to the left and one to the right of the steering column.

You also have to remove the black trim around the radio. All screws are accessible after you take that center console piece off.

Aftermarket radios, SOME, have screw holes on the side so you can use the factory L brackets. I suggest using it rather than the universal radio mounts which can be used as well. The day your car gets broken into, the factory L brackets would be tougher than the universal mount. Happend to me, son of a bitches.
