Hi
I have a 1992 model ae92 rolla.
I wonder if mk1 Toyota MR2 steering wheel fit into my car without any adapters ? Or should I have to use a kind of adapters.
The MR2 steering wheel comes with its own boss.
Here is a picture of the steering wheel that I would like to fit into my rolla. Any ideas ?
FYI, the previous generation Corolla's came with the similar design steering wheel except without the MR2 logo. I think either should fit, but not sure.
You can also look up the steering wheels from the AE92 SR5/GTS 2 doors. Designs differ a bit from the MR2 picture you have there, but similar.

... or go aftermarket.
That's right, it said TOYOTA on it... I believe some AE92s had a similar one as well.

It should work fine. I have used the same aftermarket steering wheel and hub on my Corolla, MR2 (mk2 but same dimensions as mk1), and RV. You might have to do some work to make sure the horn contact works.
The AW11 and AE86 have the same steering wheel arrangement. The SW20, AE92 and newer have a shallower setup, so while the steering wheel will fit, it would sit closer to the driver, and your turn signal/wiper stalks would be further away from the wheel.
The steering shaft diameter, threads and splines are the same.... in fact, for all Toyotas. So, yes, the wheel will actually fit on your steering shaft. However, as others have said, the ergonomics with that wheel may or may not be right. The only way to know is to try it.
I am using a similar wheel, from an '88 (if I remember correctly) Celica.....in my AE92 sedan. It works just fine.
Oh, I forgot to mention that the Celica wheel I am using definitely has less offset (shallower "dish") than the pictured MR2 wheel.....it is very similar in this respect to the original AE92 wheel.

is the diameter smaller though?
I just want to find an OEM looking wheel that has a smaller diameter... the stock wheel is like a school bus wheel

No, the Celica wheel isn't smaller. About 380mm (15").....like all the other stock Toyota wheels I've seen. I'd prefer one of about 350....or even 320 mm myself, but I can live with this one.

Yeah, I have a 350mm on my rx-7 and I like it a lot. I think it's the perfect size.

What about a steering wheel from like.. a 2000+ Celica? :p
Pretty sure that would work. I've seen them fitted to 7th gen Corollas in the past, so I assume they'd fit the 6th gens too. The Celica steering wheel is virtually identical to the one found on the Toyota Vitz RS/Echo T-Sport. Bear in mind that they're equipped with an airbag, which is what makes them rather pricey when buying from a wreckers yard.

I originally intended to find a wheel from a newer model Corolla or Matrix for my AE92 sedan (and remove the airbag)....but I found the Celica wheel first....and it was only $8.00 at the junkyard. With a good leather cover added, it does for me.
