So whats the take on putting a C52 transmission onto a BT/ST? The 20V has a bigger flywheel if I'm not mistaken, but how compatible are they with the transmission bellhousing? Or am I going to have to do some custom clutch work?
I can get an engine and ecu for less than 1000euros for a blacktop and I'm really considering it as an option

the first year Silvertops came out they came with a C52. They have the same size flywheel as any other 4AGE. It won't be an issue.

The C52 will bolt straight on to the ST/BT
Flywheel and clutch won't be an issue. we have (quite) some cars here running with the same set-up
€1000,- Isn't to bad for such an engine!
But you do might want to look into a C56 with the Blacktop. On member of our Corolla Club started out with a C52 on his BT...then swapped to the C56 which was a hudge improvement according to him and now he drives the JDM Blacktop 6-speed which he likes best

but I have a 4A-F with a c52 so that makes my flywheel different (as far as its 200mm and has 6 bolts)... but I AM considering it.. as for the C56 well, it would cost more
and doing custom work isnt exactly a big deal, I can do cad work and have parts made from the pictures I'm just wondering about the fitment.
€920,- for a BT with ECU?! Does it have all the random parts with it to make it run? And does it come with the complete wiringloom?
If so, then that really is a steal!
Damn... Here in the Netherlands BT's go for about €1300,- without the gearbox.
About the C56 costing more...Yes it will, but it will defenetly improve the Blacktop experience And at the price you can buy that Blacktop, you can spare some money for a good gearbox!
But the gearbox will still mate up to the engine. The gearbox doesn't care which size flywheel is on there. And I do suppose that the larger 8 bolt flywheel will come with the engine? If so, all you need is another clutch and your set

yeah, you just need a 4age flywheel and clutch and it'll bolt right up.

Yeah it says complete..
Oh that 4A-GE clutch wont be a problem, I can even get a sinter puck clutch if I want for it.
yeah I know the box will bolt on to the block, but I'm just thinking if the bellhousing size is right or not so the clutch would fit into it, but even thats dealable.... with an angle grinder
212mm clutch will fit in fine, thats what everyone is using. No need to bring out the angle grinder lol. just get the 212mm clutch pressure plate and flywheel and its just a bolt on affair after that. The difference in the c52 and c56 is hardly worth the cost IMO after driving levins with both c52, and c56

I dont know if the BT is worth the extra coin. AFAIK its more or less preference because they have almost identical power ratings, and are fairly similar in everything else.
Personally, I would go with the cheaper one, and use the extra cash to help pay of the swap. Just my 2 cents

I'd get the blacktop in a heart beat. (if I were to do it again)
it's faster (even though it's rated only slightly higher, the hp actually a lot higher because the ST is so over rated to start with)
but the real kicker is that the ECU is map based so you can easily run velocity stacks if you want. even if you're not planning to, the AFM on the silvertop is really small and is a really big restriction.
plus you can get one with a 6 speed which would be sweet...
EDIT: this is all if you're not planning to turbo it. if you're planning to turbo it I would get the silver top because it has stronger internals because they're not lightened as much.

I really dont need anyone to help me with the swap... so thats no problem.

Yeah that I know.
I'm just thinking about my options here... I could just dish out some money and really put some effort into the FE turbo.... or something else...

Oh i assumed you were doing it yourself, I just meant with the cost of the new maintenance, like oil change and tune up, new belts, etc, that it would cover that cost. Thats just why i would go with the cheaper one.
But it really depends what you want out of the car's end product, and how much you want to spend.
