AE92

You can look on eBay. The primary brand of carb rebuild kit is Keyster, comes in an orange box with black letterings. Has everything you need; gaskets, ball bearings of various sizes, springs, float, adj. screw, etc. They're about twenty bucks.

I did a rebuild on the carb I'm running and it has been good since! I had unknown problems with it before.

That's a 2 barrel, not one. It looks exactly the same to me.

What carburetor problems? 95% of the time these rebuild kits are not needed and will not fix the problem because the real problem is external (leaking diaphragms or failed solenoids that are attached to the carburetor).

carb problems

well when I try to accelerate in my car sometimes it doesnt work right and it is like starving for gas but if you press on the gas pedal just a little bit you can get it to accelerate but you have to go pretty slow to get up to speed. also my car wont shut off when you turn it off I have to put it in gear and let off the clutch to stall it. also my car is extremely loud and is getting not so goood gas mileage. I have recently replaced the exhaust manifold distrubutor cap, wires, plugs, air filter, catalytic converter, and o2sensor. I think its the carburetor because it works great sometimes but sometimes it feels like its starving for gas and it will jerk my car back and forth a lot when you try to accelerate.

I plan on ordering the carburetor from ebay tomorrow unless someone thinks it is a different problem?

There should be plenty of '89 Corollas in your local self service auto wrecking yards. Get a carburetor from one of those cars.

Some other items that could cause your problem would include EGR valve, fuel pump, vac line leaks. Your car has alot of vac lines so check em all for leaks. Also the distributor has centrifical weights and springs inside it at at the bottom. I found mine rusty and stuck in place (they should spin out freely). I cleaned them up and that made car run much better. The fact that your car has the dieseling problem (continues to run when shut off) sounds more like a vac leak problem.

thanks for all the advice. At first when i started having problems with my car people thought it was the timing belt so right now the timing probably isnt perfect and that is why I thought it kept running after I turned it off. How do you check for vaccum leaks? I dont know a lot about cars and everything I know is what people have done to try to fix this car.
