The down-shift cable is easy to adjust, but you might need some help.
Get somabody to press the accellerator to the floor and you should see a little silver slug just come out of the rubber sleeve at the end of the cable sheath.
If it comes out of the sleeve completely, pull the two jamb nuts on the sheath and adjust those till you see just half of the slug sticking out the sleeve, then tighten the jamb nuts.
If the adjustment on that cable is correct, then you might have other issues. Change the fluid and see if it helps. You will only get about 2.2 quarts out, although I think it holds about 4 or 5 quarts. Some fluid is always trapped in the torque convewrter, but don't worry about that.
You might want to try using Lucas transmission additive. I have used it with very good results on worn,
not-shifting-right transmissions, but theere are some things it can't fix.
Mix 1 quart of the lucas additive, with 1.2 quarts of transmission fluid
before pouring it in, or it will take a very long time to get the lucas in. It is very thick.
