Talking distributor install help

So I got my distributor, I gave in and just bought the stupid $300 thing. But I got my other ae92 suspension done in the process of this one sitting so YES! haha

I am not the brightest person with timing and i've never replaced a distributor and had to redo my timing completely and i've heard that I need to line my crank gear and cam gear up at top dead center. I'm curious if thats all I do or if that's even what I do. I know I had to do that when I replaced a timing belt with my bro on his volvo but that's entirely a different car. So I'm looking for input please
Thanks guys

all you have to do is rotate your crank pulley to the timing marks on the vavle cover and put it on 0 then that will line your cams up and then be sure to put the distributor in with it on spark plug one. that should get you close enough, then just bust out the timing light and fine tune it

there is a mark on the distributor to match up but right now i can think of where it is on there. do you have a manual for the car it should show in there?
you can always try to guess and follow the wire from the spark plug to the distributor to see which one it is then look inside the distributor and try to match the rotor to that one. but like i said the best thing is to try and find a manual or where that mark is on the distributor
