Question 92 corolla brake switch

My 92 Corolla goes through break switches at a rate of 1 every 2 months. The switch is burned out, but the fuse and bulbs are ok. What would fry the switch?

That is pretty weird. The fuse should be the weakest link in the entire electrical system of the brake lights, and therefore, if there would be any overload or short or whatever, it would blow out first.

Is the right fuse in there?

Are the contact points for the switch ok? (In the connector and I guess the body that screws in is used as mass, so is that nice and clean etc to make a good electrical connection)

In the two months that the switch does work, evertything is functioning as it should?

I've heard in the past people have had a lot of issues with off-brand brake switches. I would try getting one from a toyota dealer and see if that has the same problem.

Everything looks good underneath. The contacts are clean and the fuse is the correct amps. I have been buying my switches at Autozone and Advance Auto. Maybe I will try one from the dealer. I do not know why the fuse would not blow if there was a surge.

Got issue as well with my break light switch, everytime i step on the brake pedal it melts the fuse.. I changed the fuse thrice already.. it only happened after I bleeded the break fluid..

Is it the switch that has the problem?

I went to the wreckers for mine and just got an original toyota one. No issues since. Worth a try if you can find an ae92 at the wreckers, just take the original one with you to match up since there were a couple versions of it.
