Locating a C56 tranny trouble

So I'm looking for a C56 tranny and I can't get through to anyone that it doesn't matter what they get it out of as long as it's a C56. How much is involved in converting the tranny out of the MR2 donor to work with my front wheel drive? The guy is asking $1250 for a C56 out of a '02 Celica. I think it's to much to be honest with you. What models and years of Toyota cars (and or trucks) came with the C56 that would make a suitable donor?

you could get a c56 out of the AE101s for dirt cheap as everyone used to do 20V swaps on their AE86s and ended up with useless FWD parts.

Check on club4ag to see if anyone in your area or close can sell you a cheap one, if not use a C52 from the AE92 GTS... not much of a difference and still fits.

$1250 for a C56?? lol I used to see them for $80-100 up here from the AE101s.

I'm pretty sure the C56s from celicas have different bell housings so they won't fit.

You'll need to get one from a later year ST or a BT that someone is swapping into an AE86. Go into the older corolla section or try club4ag.com classifieds.
